Once again, the Spanish State is demonstrating what is the real meaning of democracy in occident; far for being an expression of political freedom, capitalist democracies are a repressive machines, although decorated with nice words .
The National Court, a judicial institution inherited from the Franco’s dictatorship, have just started the trial against Cesar Strawberry, the leader of a rap band called Def con Dos. The prosecutor accuses him of “glorifying terrorism” for comments in Twitter, and demands 20 months in jail, 8 years of complete inhabitation and two years of privation. One of these “dangerous” message, that was reteeted by Cesar, is: “Could I wear a t-shirt with a picture of Miguel Angel Blanco? I ask this from the respect and the summer.” (M.A. Blanco was killed by ETA few years ago). Other of these tweets that support the accusation is: “How many should fly as Carrero Blanco.” (Carrero Blanco was a recognized fascist killed by ETA too). However, although media are trying to restrict this case to few politically incorrect tweets, the truth is that Cesar Strawberry is a well recognized political activist.
Other example (there are many more) is the case of Ayax and Prok, a couple of Andalusian rappers who have been accused of injuries against the police for a song called “Polizzia”, that criticize the police repression. This artists are facing a fine of 600 to 30.000 euros, and prision, in case that they couldn’t afford it.
These are not the only cases of political persecution against Spanish artists, and it seems that these won’t be the last ones, as evidenced by the recent imprisonment of the puppeteers for criticizing the State. It is curious that that the same institutions that accuse Spanish artists or “glorifying terrorism” for calling to resist against the capital dictatorship that is condemning an entire generation to poverty, still funding associations such as the Francisco Franco Foundation that proudly defends the fascist regime that ruled the country for 40 years, and that caused that Spain achieved the record of being the second (only to Cambodia) for the largest number of mass graves . This institutions are the same that have justified multiple cases of glorifying fascism by Popular Party members (the ruling party), saying that these were just minor fails.
News programs on television, instead of depicting the reality, are shaping a reality according with the capitalistic interests. The use of terror as a weapon of political propaganda is becoming an everyday strategy in Spain. Low intensity State terrorism is the favorite weapon of the “democratic and constitutional” regime in Spain.
